About Munich Airport

Munich Airport — officially Munich Airport (Franz Josef Strauss), IATA code MUC and ICAO code EDDM — lies northeast of downtown Munich in the German state of Bavaria and runs on Central European Time (Europe/Berlin).

The airport has two terminals. Terminal 1 opened in 1992 with five modules (A–E) and gained a new pier on 21 April 2026. Terminal 2 opened in 2003 as the main hub for Lufthansa and the Star Alliance, linked by an underground people mover to the Terminal 2 Satellite building that opened on 26 April 2016. Munich's Hauptbahnhof is a direct S-Bahn ride away — about 41 minutes on line S8 or 45 minutes on line S1.
